To Pass on the Time of Fading Tableware Through Art

PHILOSOPHY

PHILOSOPHY

Tableware is an essential element in shaping the art of "food." While awareness of issues like food waste has been growing, and various efforts are being made, the recycling of tableware remains underdeveloped.
Focusing particularly on the lagging B2B sector, KOHNO, which has been handling tableware for nearly 150 years, conceived a project called . This initiative uses dead stock from partner manufacturers as well as ceramics collected from hotels and restaurants as canvases to upcycle through the power of art, aiming to build a sustainable ecosystem for tableware.
From Japan, a country with a long-standing tradition of "kintsugi", seeks to reimagine and create a new "artistic method" to extend the life of lost tableware around the world. If can become a catalyst for such a movement, it would be truly wonderful.

ARTWORKS

Jun Tsunoda x NIKKO

The first works of the project are the "Automatic Writing" and "Buddha Hand" series by artist Jun Tsunoda, who also created the title design for the brand's logo. These works are painted on dead stock bone china, known for its unparalleled whiteness, produced by , a leading Japanese ceramics manufacturer that continues to carry out large-scale production entirely "Made in Japan." In addition to the standard lineup, we also present one-of-a-kind pieces, each individually collaged by Mr. Tsunoda using off-spec items generated during the production process.
